Hello to all of the fishing guys and gals. It’s been warm and sunny this past week here in Alberta which gave me a chance to go and do some trout fishing on the Bow River. Today’s high was nine degrees or so which is nice weather here for December. I walked up the river quite a Way’s to a deeper hole on the weekend to find a large school of humongous trout on a feeding frenzy. We were throwing out all sorts of tackle and pulling out some of the Bow Rivers largest trout. I was using the Minnow Spinner for awhile and bagged some fat Rainbow’s. I was also using the Berkley Frenzy and the Brown’s were hammering on that as well.
Even when I’m doing well with one particular type of lure, I still like to switch once in awhile to mix it up. After all, I like to eat something different and I think the trout do also. Todd and I did very well today; my last fish was a 25 inch Rainbow. Todd pulled out some massive Browns today with his best fish measuring 27 inches. This fish was an absolute monster, it would be safe to say it was ten pounds or more, see the picture here. We are going to get in the dingy this weekend and pull in on an island and get out and fish. These are the things a guide must do to find out where he can bring his customers.
When I pay for a guide I would expect that this person at least knows where the fish are. After that the rest is up to me, the guide cannot force the fish to bite my hook; but he can give me the hook that is working at that time of the season. I like to go to as many places as I can to find the fish because when I do it’s all gravy after that. I wish you all the best on your next trip. Happy hunting.
