We headed to the upper lake to try our luck trolling. We launched out and we were away to the races to catch either the Rainbow or the Bull Trout that live in the upper lake. Russ had told me that they had stocked the upper lake two weeks ago so the fishing may be a little slow as a result. We trolled around for an hour and a half with Dayna being the only one to get lucky enough to catch anything. She caught her very first fish which was a feisty two pound Bull Trout but would not hold it up for a picture so I held it and she took the picture. I don’t know what there is to be scared of Dayna it’s only a Trout.

Gone Fishing- Lower Kananaskis Lake
Any how we left the upper lake to go back to the lower lake and fish the prime water that is all around the front of the cabin. Rusty’s dad Dick offered us a hamburger before we all headed out to fish ,which was very welcomed as I could have ate a piece of shoe leather at that point in time. We finished supper and headed down to the lake at 9:00 at night. I had my Williams Wobbler still tied on and made my first cast into the lake. Low and behold I had a follower biting on my lure but he just never hammered on it so I reloaded and made my next cast. This time he hit hard and I had my first Bull Trout of the season. He was only a two pounder but he was scraping hard.

Gone Fishing- Lower Kananaskis Lake
Then Kevin and Russ showed up and made their first casts and boom, boom, a double header. I saw the way Kevin’s rod was bent over and I knew he had a monster on the go. He finally managed to play this bad boy out and we pulled it out of the water, it was a whopper Bull measuring approximately 30inches and weighing in at about 10-12 pounds. Kevin looked like a little kid in a candy store.
I gently pulled the hook out of this monsters mouth , snapped a quick picture and Kevin then calmly let him go to fight some other angler another day. What an awesome trip out to the Lower Kananaskis Lake once again folks, this for me is what life is all about. Good solid friends and some BIG old trout. Is does not get any better than that. I will keep you all posted on my next fishing excursion. I think the next stop just might be the Crow’s Nest River.

Gone Fishing- Crawling Valley
Hello to all my fishing friends out there, it’s been a really wet week here in Calgary and the mighty Bow River is very high and fast right now so it’s not fishable right now. But that’s not to say we can not go to other places to fish. That’s the cool thing about fishing, if one lake or river is not producing very many fish or it’s just not fishable at all for whatever reason, you can always go some where that is. Crawling Valley happens to be just that place for me and this Friday and Saturday were no exceptions. Friday I went out alone to see what was happening on the reservoir as I was planning to take my friend Tom out on Saturday. I was able to catch a couple of nice Walleye that were around the 20 inch mark. So with that said I figured I would call Tom and let him know that we were going to fish crawling instead of the Bow.
