Hello all you fishing fanatics it’s been awhile since my last post was made. My trial edition of Microsoft XP had expired and it took me a week to buy the new software. Anyhow, were back in the ball game so to speak. My last fishing trip was down to the local tackle store to purchase some more gear for the next time I float the river. The weather here in Calgary has not been the greatest the last few days with lots of rain. The Bow River is high as a result of the spring run off that’s happening. I know that once the weather lets up and the run off waters subside, the fishing is going to be awesome. In the mean time this will let me catch up on the Blog, as it’s long over due for some more info. So stay tuned for more articles on Sport Fishing as well as lots of new pictures.

Gone Fishing- Crawling Valley
Well the May long weekend is over and is time to go back to work tomorrow. All in all, a great weekend for fishing. I’m glad to say I made it out to Crawling Valley today and had a great day fishing. Another warm one out at the Valley, with the temperature reaching 25 degrees Celsius. I was kind of in a hurry this mourning and totally forgot to bring the sun screen, what a big mistake and I paid for it with a pretty bad sunburn. It’s always a good idea to keep sun block in your backpack which I call my tackle box, because you never know when your going to need it.

Gone Fishing – Crawling Valley
Like the old saying goes, it you don’t have it you can’t put it on. So for all you fisherman out there with sensitive skin like me put some sun block in your tackle box. I managed to get out of bed early today to make it to Crawling Valley before someone else was sitting in my “honey hole†and when I got there at 7:30 AM I was pleasantly surprised that I had it all to myself. So I proceeded to set up shop for the day and catch myself some big fat fish. Hooked up the Pickerel rig and baited up with some frozen minnows and I was fishing. It took about 40 minutes to get a bite and when I finally did, I got too antsy and missed him. The first four fish I lost out on, as I was too anxious to set the hook.

Gone Fishing- Crawling Valley
When fishing Walleye here with bait it’s a good idea to wait a couple of seconds after the initial bite so as to let the fish get the bait in it’s mouth. I know this as I have fished here many times before but sometimes it’s hard to settle down. Once I came back to my senses I was in to my first fish of the day, a big fat Pike that was peeling line off my reel. I don’t think he liked my size 1 hook in his yap per. The pike here are usually medium size on average but I do not specifically target them I’m here for the Walleye. About 10 minutes after the first fish it’s nibble, nibble and I’m in to my first Walleye of the 2006 season.
