The next lure I would like to discuss is the next best thing since sliced bread. This lure is called the Berkley Frenzy and comes in a verity of different colors for whatever species of fish you’re after. I just started using this lure last summer on the Bow River and it works awesome for both Browns and the Rainbow trout. I was walking around my local department store shopping for something I can’t remember what, and decided to go down the fishing isle as I usually do. The Berkley Frenzy stood out of all the lures that were on the shelf that day, so I picked up three of the Rainbow pattern Berkley ( Jay Yelas) series lures.

Something just stood out about this lure, maybe it was just a fishermen hunch but the color and look of this hook was exactly as a small Rainbow trout looks. So of course I have to buy some and test them out the next time I fish the river. A quick note to the reasonably new comers to fishing, make sure when you buy your tackle you buy more than just one lure, there’s nothing worse than when that lure is working awesome and your catching tons of fish, you snag up and loose the hook. Sometimes that can be a long and frustrating drive back to the tackle shop provided it’s not closed for the day. When I buy tackle I buy more than one hook, usually four at a time to avoid this hassle and frustration. If you loose one oh well you still have more in your tackle box.

 So I head down to the Bow to give this baby a shot. Within the first half an hour I pulled in two trout, a 22inch Brown trout and a 23inch Rainbow that completely destroyed this lure so from then on in I decided this lure needs to be kept in my tackle box for good. Then on another fishing trip when floating the river in my dingy, I pulled out a monster Rainbow trout that measured 25inches in length which I managed to get a picture of, I’ll load it onto the site so you can have a look. I’ve not only had great success with the Rainbow pattern but also with so of the other colors as well. The Fire tiger has worked excellent as well as the black and gold, and what Berkley calls the silver shiner has been really successful
